International Travel Program

During the 2018-2019 summer and academic year, more than 30 middle and high school students traveled internationally through partnerships and programs provided in collaboration with SEED.

BRAZIL SUMMER EXCHANGE PROGRAM (9TH-12TH)

SEED MD and DC students and staff will travel together to Brazil in collaboration with Onda Solidaria during Summer 2019. Participants will spend 5 days in Rio de Janiero and 5 days in Santana do Deserto. In the two cities, students will engage in a homestay, site see, do service, hike, interact with locals, and visit a national park.

BRITISH SUMMER STUDIES PROGRAMME (11TH)

Each year, SEED MD selects two current juniors to participate in the British Studies Summer Programme in collaboration with ACS International Schools. While residing in ACS International’s world-class dormitory on the impressive 128-acre ACS Cobham International School campus near London, England, British Studies summer scholars engage expert teachers while visiting many of England’s most famous historical and cultural sites and other attractions.

EXPERIMENT IN INTERNATIONAL LIVING (9TH-11TH)

The Experiment in International Living provides three, four, and five-week summer programs for high school students who want to connect deeply and engage meaningfully with the richness and complexities of another country. Students explore the host country through hands-on experiences in local communities and through the lens of a specific theme.

 

GIRLS GOING GLOBAL (8TH)

Girls Going Global (GGG) is a non profit organization seeking to address the disparity of girls of color in international education and today’s field of travel and international affairs. Girls Going Global provides global leadership programming to girls from underrepresented communities.

JAMAICA BOTANICAL RESEARCH PROGRAM (9TH-11TH)

In collaboration with the Jamaica Volunteers Program, students will study botany and zoology at Jamaica's world-renowned gardens and zoos. Students will stay in Kingston, Jamaica and complete daily research tasks at the Royal Chinese Garden, as well Hope Botanical Garden and Zoo. Students will learn about this garden that was given as a gift to the people of Jamaica from the Republic of China, while viewing the Chinese architecture and learn about rare species of plants. STUDENTS HELPING HONDURAS (9TH-11TH)

The Students Helping Honduras opportunity provides young people from SEED an opportunity to immerse themselves in the San Pedro Sula community while buildling a school with community members. During their week with Students Helping Honduras, current and former SEED students and staff members work on the construction of three new middle school classrooms at Centro Básico Luis Landa in the town of Arena Blanca.
