Last Friday, the SEED Maryland community paid tribute to the extraordinary generosity of the Rales family and other supporters, whose generosity made the school a reality. We were also delighted to be joined by several visionary legislators, including Congressmen Steny Hoyer and John Sarbanes, Senator Ben Cardin, Secretary of State John Wobensmith, CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools Dr. Gregory Thornton, Maryland State Delegate Benjamin Brooks, Sr., and Deputy Secretary of State Luis Borunda, who have tirelessly championed our SEED Maryland students.
They were able to see the fruits of SEED's model firsthand. Maia Fulton, a member of SEED Maryland's inaugural graduating class and a freshman at Towson University, shared words of wisdom with current students: "To the students in the room: sometimes giving up will seem like the only option, but if you hang on for a little while longer, you will see that not giving up is worth it. With the help and support from SEED and the College Transition & Success team, I was able to overcome obstacles standing in my way of a college degree."
