Mr. Carter-Bey has established partnerships with outside stakeholders to bring programs to campus that promote wellness and character development. He has led the schoolwide implementation for mindfulness practices which includes,Trauma Informed Yoga and Meditation. Prior to his work at SEED he provided direct care to adolescents who required intensive behavior and/or mental health support in a residential setting. This work inspired him to pursue his career in education and provide direct support to students in preparation for college and beyond. In 2007 Ms. Byram was introduced to SEED Co-Founder Raj Vinnakota. She co-chaired the SEED Your Soul kickoff party in Baltimore City, introducing SEED to the community. Ms. Byram began mentoring SEED students in 2009 and served on the Development Committee and Board of Trustees (2010-2014). Prior to her position at SEED, Ms. Byram worked at the Baltimore School for the Arts, served on the Women’s Committee at the Walters Art Museum, and was co-owner of Winters Media Group, a printing firm in New York City. Ms. Byram has her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is a 200hr Hatha Raja Yoga and 500hr Dharma Yoga certified teacher. Academics Dr. Tashawna Miller is a Baltimore native who attended Morgan State and Coppin State University. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English, her Masters's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, and her Ph.D. from Notre Dame of Maryland. Dr. Miller has worked in Baltimore City Public Schools for 11 years. She has taught special education, honors, and general education students and has served on various leadership teams and committees. She began at SEED as the External Opportunities Coordinator before assuming her role as the Director of Admissions. She is a former high school English teacher with Baltimore City Public Schools and has also taught and worked in K-12 education in various roles, including her role as a Family and Engagement Coordinator and College and Career Advisor. Additionally, she has worked in postsecondary education as a Student Success Specialist and Program Coordinator at Baltimore City Community College. Takee has over 15 years combined experience in classroom instruction, research, and program administration. Takee possesses various training and certifications in college and career readiness, pedagogical strategies, and delivering and scoring Advanced Placement curriculum and assessments. Ms. Jobe is a Baltimore city native and graduated from Western High School, an all-girls public high school. She obtained her first Bachelor’s degree from Howard University as a Communications major. Next, she obtained a second Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Baltimore and then went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Teaching from Coppin State University. Takee believes in Baltimore and knows first-hand that our city’s youth are talented, powerful, and deserve to be invested in. She has served in several positions within the student life department before taking on the role of Director of Student Life and Residential Services. In her current role she oversees the after-school programs to include dormitories, student life staffing, athletics, community schools staffing and programs as well as residential services for on campus residents. Innovation, Commitment, and Understanding (ICU) is an acronym Shaneen has created and embedded in her work to provide the best quality of service. Through her creative approach to ICU, she has been able to lead processes that reflect new ideas, understand organizational needs, and operate with a commitment to fidelity. In her experience as a leader, Shaneen understands that some of the best discussions come from the bottom up and building employee morale is paramount to the longevity of a company. This perspective has allowed her to grow teams and develop staff to their full potential. Shaneen attended Coppin State University for undergraduate studies and Goucher College for graduate studies, where she earned a Master’s in Education with a focus on at-risk learners. As an educator, she has worked with youth for 20+ years, both in a residential and in a school setting. Her previous work experience includes managing a staff of 40+ and working as an educational consultant and manager in various positions within K-12 and higher education. Some of her current work involves strategic enrollment in higher education, and developing research to help college graduates sustain a career after graduation. Shaneen considers herself a life-long learner.
