College Tours: Preparing the Class of 2027 for the Next Step

This spring, members of the Class of 2027 participated in SEED Maryland's annual College Tour for Juniors, an important milestone in their college planning process. Students traveled through Virginia and North Carolina, visiting a variety of campuses and gaining firsthand insight into life after high school.

Tour stops included Virginia Tech, University North Carolina Greensboro, High Point University, Winston-Salem State University, and North Carolina A&T State University. During each visit, students explored academic buildings, learned about campus resources, connected with current students, and experienced the unique culture of each institution.

Prior to the tour, students researched colleges, explored academic programs aligned with their interests, and developed questions to guide their campus visits. The preparations helped students engage more intentionally with each institution and better understand the opportunities available to them after graduation.

At SEED, campus visits play an important role in helping students make informed decisions about their futures. Websites and virtual resources provided valuable information, but walking a campus and experiencing it firsthand allows students to envision themselves in a college environment and identify the communities where they may thrive academically, socially, and personally.

The annual College Tour for Juniors reflects SEED Maryland's commitment to ensuring that students have meaningful exposure to a wide range of post-secondary options. Experiences like these help students build confidence, clarify their goals, and take ownership of their college search process.

As students reflect on their experiences during the summer, they will continue refining their college lists, preparing application materials, and planning for the admissions season ahead. The college advising team looks forward to supporting the Class of 2027 throughout their senior year as they take the next steps toward achieving their college and career goals.
