The SEED School of Maryland welcomes gifts of all sizes and forms. One hundred percent of your contribution will help SEED students. Gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Gifts should be made out to The SEED School of Maryland and directed to the Development Office. For most gifts, a donor may create a payment schedule over a period of time.
Cash: Cash gifts are the most common form of support received by the school, entitling donors to an income tax charitable deduction in the year in which the gift was made. Checks should be made payable to The SEED School of Maryland and sent to the Development Office, The SEED School of Maryland, 200 Font Hill Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21223.
Credit Cards: Gifts by all major credit cards are accepted. Visit our secure online giving page or call Katie del Carmen Byram, Director of Development, at (410) 843-9477 x709 to make a gift by phone.
Securities: Gifts of appreciated securities provide substantial tax savings for the donor. Capital gains taxes are avoided and gifts are tax deductible at fair market value. For more information about the stock transfer process, contact Katie del Carmen Byram, Director of Development, at (410) 843-9477 x709 for instructions on how to make a gift of stock or securities to the school.
Matching Gifts: More than a thousand companies will match the charitable contributions of their employees, as well as spouses of employees and retired employees. Please check with your company’s human resources department for a matching gift form, complete your brief section of the form, and mail it to The SEED School of Maryland with your gift. You will be recognized for the full amount of your own gift plus the corporate match!
Gifts in Honor or Memory: If you wish honor or remember someone special, please consider making a gift to The SEED School of Maryland in his or her name!
The Community Investment Tax Credit Program: The SEED School of Maryland has been awarded $25,000 in Community Investment Tax Credits that can be distributed to qualifying donors — both individuals and businesses. Gifts made today to support giving a home to SEED scholars and their dreams — may qualify. The minimum gift amount to qualify for a tax credit is $500.
A Maryland Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) is a straight reduction in the amount of your Maryland state income tax liability, equal to 50% of your qualifying gift. Verification that both you as a donor and your gift qualify for a CITC is required.
Here’s how it works:
1. You can make a donation online or by mail. Please write in the online giving notes section, “CITC”; or write in the check memo, “CITC."
2. SEED will email you one page CITC donation form to fill out. Fill out the form and mail or email back to SEED.
3. You will receive a thank you note from SEED; the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development will send you confirmation that your gift qualifies. Share this with your accountant confirmation with your accountant.
4. *if you do not use all of your MD tax credit in one year, the credit will still be useable for 5 years.
Please contact Katie del Carmen Byram, Director of Development, at (410) 843-9477 x709, or by e-mail (email@example.com) to learn more about these and other giving opportunities.
Thank you for your support of The SEED School of Maryland!
